At Key Stage 4 students can choose to continue with their study of history.
GCSE History builds on knowledge and skills from Key Stage Three. Students develop essay writing skills, and learn to analyse evidence for historians’ usage.
Year 10 lessons cover Crime, Punishment and Protest in Britain from Roman Britain through to the present day, and involve a trip to the Clink Prison Museum and the London Dungeons, as well as coursework on Jack the Ripper.
The Year 11 course involves in-depth study of Germany between the wars, including the Rise of Hitler and Nazi Germany. Students also learn about India’s Struggle for Independence for coursework.
Two exams at the end of Year 11 make up 75% of students’ final grade, with coursework accounting for 25%.
