The science department has 10 dedicated science labs with access to 24 wireless laptops.
GCSE Science and Additional Science aims to develop our understanding of the science around us that affects our everyday life. It develops our questioning, analytical and evaluative approach to scientific problems and issues. It also develops practical skills in science and an understanding of how science works. We aim to encourage enthusiasm about science which leads to continued study.
Students complete their first GCSE in science by the end of Year 10 and the second GCSE by the end of Year 11.
In Year 10 and Y11 students study Biology, Chemistry and Physics covering topics such as:

Year 10:
- 60% of the exam is based on 6 multiple choice papers sat in November, March and June
- 40% is made up of internal assessments covering practical work, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Year 11
- 30% of the exam is based on 3 multiple choice papers sat in November, March and June
- 30% from 3 structured written papers sat in November, March and June
- 40% is made up of internal assessments covering practical work, Biology, Chemistry and Physics
