Literary adventures at London Academy Primary

This half-term our students have enjoyed a broad and exciting range of literary events. At London Academy, developing a love of learning is an aim which we actively pursue and ensure all our students can not only read well but enjoy reading to relax.  We work hard to ensure it is nurtured.

As part of National Storytelling Week Karen Inglis, author of several children’s books including ‘The Secret Lake’, ‘Henry Haynes and the Great Escape’ and ‘Walter Brown and the Magician’s Hat’ came to meet with our students. The students loved meeting her and listening to her reading passages from her stories.  Her books have certainly proved popular since she left and whilst here, she signed books too.

The students enjoyed the recent book fair.  There was a wide range of books for the students to look at and, with over £500 of books sold during the event, we hope everyone is enjoying reading their new purchases.

With such a wide range of books for the students to read it was a challenge for them to pick their favourite character for World Book Day, however a wide range of characters arrived at school on the 7th March including the Gruffalo and Snow White.
