Yr. 7 students show remarkable commitment to form a winning rugby team

Since September London Academy Yr. 7 boys have shown exceptional commitment to forming a rugby team.  On the 23rd January they were put through their paces during the qualifiers of the Barnet Rugby School Championships hosted by Saracens and Allianz Park Stadium. The qualifiers comprised six schools from Barnet, and the team had some thrilling encounters showing a real commitment to attack and defence making it hard for all opposition schools.

Matt Dawson, Rugby Participation Officer at Saracens commented, “They have engaged, listened and worked tirelessly to improving each week, whilst having loads of fun along the way.  They came to the BLAST fixture night, somewhat green around the collar, with a confident but nervous feeling towards what was about to unfold. However, I can honestly say that the pupils and staff conducted themselves in such a way that the school can be overwhelmingly proud of their efforts and achievements.”

The team had some close fought competition, but their wins mean they now qualify for the Champions League finals evening in Pool A which will be held at Allianz stadium on the 6th March. We wish the whole team huge congratulations on their efforts to date and look forward to the finals night.
