Governance

AIM Academies Trust Board and London Academy Governing Body

London Academy became a multi-academy trust in April 2013. The Trust is named AIM Academies Trust and comprises of London Academy, AIM North London and Deansbrook Junior School.

As a charity and company limited by guarantee, AIM Academies is governed by a Board of Directors who are responsible for, and oversee, the management and administration of the company and the academies run by the company. London Academy is one of the academies.

The Directors are accountable to external government agencies, including the Charity Commission and the Department for Education, for the quality of the education they provide. They are also required to have systems in place through which they can assure themselves of quality, safety and good practice.

To carry out these responsibilities, the Directors appoint people (the “Local Governors”) with appropriate skills and knowledge to serve on a board (the “Local Governing Body”) established to ensure the good governance of the Academy. Equally, the Directors appoint an Executive team that provides strategic and operational direction.

The Local Governing Body (LGB) meets three times a year.

Both the LGB and the Executive team have delegated responsibility from the Trust board. The Scheme of Delegation outlines very clearly what they are responsible for.

Philip O’Hear is the Chair of Governors for London Academy and AIM Academies Trust, he can be contacted by emailing office@londonacademy.org.uk.
