At London Academy, we aim to ensure that all of our students broaden their cultural capital and develop meaningful skills outside their allocated curriculum.
This means that we provide seven opportunities for Year 7-10 to explore the arts, sports and a wide range of extracurricular activities. We call this The LA7.

As part of our volunteering and work experience, our students are encouraged to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award*, Debate Mate* and Brilliant Club* programmes, which gives students a chance to develop their social skills, and master their oracy skills.
The DofE was designed to challenge young people between the ages of 14 and 24 to attain standards of achievement and endeavour in a wide variety of active interests – to serve their communities, experience adventure and to develop and learn outside the classroom.
Debate Mate also aims to help students improve their critical and creative thinking, teamwork, leadership and other skills.
The Brilliant Club is an award-winning charity that works with schools and universities in the UK to help disadvantaged students access competitive universities. The club’s goal is to increase the number of students from underrepresented backgrounds who attend highly selective universities.
