London Academy’s mission to become Leaders for Tomorrow starts with our youngest students. The Early Years learning areas have been carefully designed to be stimulating and nurturing spaces, and children in Reception are equipped to develop their skills in the seven areas of learning and development outlined in the Early Years statutory framework.
Our state-of-the-art learning areas and diverse and ambitious programmes of study work hand in hand to support children to meet their Early Learning Goals by the end of the Reception Year – supplemented by a continuous provision that values independent enquiry, creative thinking, and communication and interpersonal skills.
Above all, children in Reception at London Academy enjoy coming to school, and feel valued, respected and cared for. Every child is unique, and the Early Years Team strives to create a safe and inclusive place for all children, building self-esteem and resilience, which sets them up to be happy, lifelong learners.
Working closely with parents and carers, our aim is to give our children the tools, support and challenges to thrive in their formative years.
Online Learning Journals – Primary School
At the Foundation Stage, we recognise that learning happens in every interaction and experience the child has. The power of play to develop communication, interpersonal skills and investigation is limitless, and we see this daily in our provision.
We want to capture as much of your child’s learning journey as possible, and we do this with an online learning journal called Tapestry. Tapestry allows parents to get regular updates about their child’s learning. We use it to document the children’s learning adventures, and give you a chance to see them ‘at work’, too.
We will upload our entries and observations at the end of each week, and ask that you engage with these and leave comments where appropriate.
We also welcome your own uploads of your child’s home experiences: milestones, interesting discoveries and special days out, for example. The EYFS team love to see these! They become the focus of our Show & Tell sessions, and the team will often be able to incorporate any interests or themes into class learning in the following weeks.
