Homework

We believe in nurturing academic excellence and supporting the holistic development of our students. Homework and home learning play a vital role in achieving these objectives.

Research consistently demonstrates that homework positively influences students’ academic progress, particularly for secondary school students. Studies indicate an average increase in learning of +5 months when homework is effectively implemented.

Homework at London Academy is meticulously designed to complement classroom learning and reinforce key concepts. By linking homework to classroom work and offering timely feedback, we aim to better students’ cognitive learning processes.

To help ensure a manageable workload, we allocate approximately 1 hour of homework per subject per week. This approach enables students to deepen their understanding of subjects while maintaining a healthy balance between school and home life.

Moreover, we acknowledge the significance of using digital resources to enrich the learning experience. Students are set work appropriate to their level of study, with tasks varying from written assignments to online learning activities.

Students are encouraged to try carefully selected online platforms, such as Sparx maths and SENECA in science and other subjects. We believe that collaboration and digital technology can amplify the impact of homework, making it more engaging and effective.

The quality of homework takes precedence over quantity, and we strive to provide opportunities for students to develop essential skills in independent learning and critical thinking.
